Here is a great technique that I use with my clients to help them overcome a fear or phobia. You can try this simple technique yourself and it only takes around 5 minutes to do. Most people who use this technique find that it works right away and they never have the negative emotional response towards the fear/phobia again.
Here is the technique:
1. Imagine that you could watch yourself experience the very first time that you had a negative emotional response to the thing that causes you fear and allow yourself to watch as an outsider would see this reaction. Be prepared that for some, you might be remembering all the way back to a time as a baby and for others it might even be a past life experience - just go with it.
2. When you believe that you can no longer watch yourself experience this, then you have reached the "emotional pain threshold" of this experience and it is time to float up out of that memory.
3. just let yourself float above the memory and look down at it.
4. next, imagine that you have the ability to float back in time, to a memory that made you feel safe and protected. This can be an actual memory or even one that your mind has made up for you - again, just go with it. Stay for as long as you like and until you feel completely safe!
5. and when you are ready, go on and ask yourself "Where is the fear?" It's gone now isn't it? In fact, no matter how hard you try, you may find it impossible to experience the fear from this amazing place of safety and security.
6. next, try to imagine the most recent time that you experienced a fearful emotion towards it. Most of my clients at this point, have discovered that the fear is completely GONE!!
(if needed, repeat the steps until there is no longer a negative response to the thing that caused your fear/phobia)
Feel free to try this technique out and share your experiences!!! If you would like to learn more about how to use the power of thought to change your life, join my private group "The Mind Trip"
