What does the word "friend" mean to you?

I used to think that "everyone who spoke to me was my friend" lol childish I know. But as I have experienced more things I have found I think that a friend is someone who no matter the time that has passed is there for you. Often they are the ones seeing where you need help or hugs or something before you even know. They have your best interest at heart. But you in return have the same vested interest in them and their life

I also used to think that everyone who said they were my friend, was really my friend. what I have discovered is that they are not. A real friend to me, is always there no matter what through the hard times and the fun times. A friend is not someone who from their heart really wants the best for you in all ways. A friend to me is honest and loyal and trusting in all ways. Also a real friendship works both ways.

Hi All
I still believe that everyone is my friend, even if we aren't close and don't speak often. I am the girl who speaks to "strangers" because they are friends waiting to happen. I know that people sometimes say and do hurtful things to each other out of jealousy, or because they are going through their own problems and don't have a healthy outlet to heal... but down deep, we all believe in the good, and want the same things - happiness and peace and love.

I do however believe that there are levels to friendship - and those deeper connections that I have with people, those that are close to me, share secrets with me, and accept me for all that I am are the most special people in the world to me - they are my anem cara, and they know that I am always here for them no matter what happens in life - near or far, I am just a thought away.
