My Private Group: LoonWitch's Cauldon - stop by for a spell, stir up some magick and discover the magickal part of life! Website: http://www.loonwitch.com
Hello All! During my trip overseas recently, I had the opportunity to walk around some of the more "local" and less touristy shops. I found a shop with a man doing sandalwood carvings - and in a basket of miscellaneous carvings I found a bare foot with a spider on top of it. I knew it was meant for me... why? Because I like being barefoot, and spider is my totem "animal". That being said, I thought it was rather interesting that such a fetish should be in the basket of miscellaneous carvings. It took me some research to find out what it means.
The spider is one of the five poisons in the Chinese belief system; but sometimes the spider is seen as a message from heaven - spiders dropping down on a thread they are delivering messages from god... or other realms. When the spider is placed on a bare foot, it is a way to counteract the poisons; and the meaning of this fetish is to remind yourself to be happy and grateful. The epitome of optimism!
Being an optimist myself, I was thrilled to find this interpretation of my new little purchase and it made me wonder if I should get a tattoo on my own foot of a spider to carry this reminder with me always.
I love it when the universe gives signs of validation, especially when we are not looking for them. This was a sign that everything was going to be alright.
